Scholarship Description:

Dr. Lu is a John A. and Frances P. Ware Endowed Associate Professor and the Director of the Pharmaceutics and Pharmacokinetics Track at R. Ken Coit College of Pharmacy, ranked No. 4 by the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy. The University of Arizona (UArizona) is a member of the Association of American Universities (AAU), a distinction held by only 69 premier research institutions in North America.

In 2023, UArizona reported over $955 million in total R&D expenditures, ranking No. 36 in the U.S. according to the NSF Higher Education Research and Development (HERD) Survey.

The Lu lab focuses on developing innovative, safe, and effective therapeutics at the intersection of drug discovery and delivery, synthetic chemistry, pharmaceutics, nanotechnology, and tumor immunology. Their goal is to address unmet needs in the treatment and prevention of cancer, heart disease, and Alzheimer’s.

Dr. Lu’s research has been published in prestigious journals such as Nature Cancer, Nature Nanotechnology, and Nature Communications. He has secured over $9 million in research funding, including a Maximizing Investigators’ Research Award (MIRA) and two R01 grants from the National Cancer Institute of NIH, as well as funding from UArizona Startup and Retention Funds, PhRMA Foundation, and the UArizona Comprehensive Cancer Center.

Eligibility criteria:

  • 4 Postdoctoral Research Associate are available immediately. Candidates should have a strong track record in medicinal chemistry, pharmaceutics, drug delivery, nanomedicine, or immunology.  
  • 2 PhD students with full scholarship is available immediately. Candidates should have training in medicinal chemistry, pharmaceutics, drug delivery, nanomedicine, or pharmacology. Candidates with first author publication(s) in related fields is preferable.
