Scholarship Description:
Dr. Bingchen Yu graduated with a bachelor’s degree in pharmacy from Shandong University in 2014 and earned his PhD in organic chemistry and drug chemistry from Georgia State University in 2018. Since 2019, he has conducted postdoctoral research at Georgia State University and the University of California, San Francisco. In 2023, he joined the Department of Chemistry at Georgia State University as an assistant professor.
To date, Dr. Yu has published 40 papers as first or co-author in high-impact journals, including Nature Chemistry, Chem, JACS, Angewandte Chemie, and Chemical Science. His research has been cited nearly 2,000 times, highlighting his significant contributions to drug chemistry, chemical biology, and protein therapeutics.
Available Subjects:
- Utilize expanded codon technology and proximity-triggered reaction mechanisms to achieve covalent cross-linking of proteins for in-depth studies of protein-protein, protein-sugar, and protein-RNA interactions.
- Design and optimize small molecule probes to explore and analyze the structural and functional relationships of protein-protein interactions.
- Drug chemistry, including the development of covalent antiviral drugs and ion channel activators.
- Design and develop a novel high-throughput drug screening platform.
Eligibility criteria:
- Master’s or undergraduate students with experience in drug chemistry, molecular biology, artificial intelligence, or chemical biology will be given priority.
- Strong proficiency in English (listening, speaking, reading, and writing):
- TOEFL score of 80 or above;
- IELTS score of 6.5 or above.
- Passion for research, with a strong sense of innovation and teamwork.
