Scholarship Description:

The Abigail Wexner Research Institute at Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Ohio is hiring postdoctoral researchers and research assistants for Dr. Yan Hu’s lab.

Dr. Yan Hu is the principal investigator at the Center for Perinatal Research and an assistant professor in the Department of Pediatrics at Ohio State University.

Dr. Hu earned her Bachelor’s degree in Biology from China Agricultural University in 2009 and her Ph.D. in Molecular Cell and Developmental Biology from the University of Virginia in 2016. She completed her postdoctoral training in lung tissue regeneration with Dr. Melanie Koenigshoff and Dr. Christopher Evans. During this time, she secured competitive research grants, including the NIH/NHLBI F32 postdoctoral fellowship and the K99/R00 career development award, highlighting her potential for independent research.

Dr. Hu’s research focuses on the molecular mechanisms regulating lung epithelial stem cells in health and chronic lung diseases. Her work aims to discover new therapeutic approaches to promote lung tissue regeneration, particularly for diseases such as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and bronchopulmonary dysplasia (BPD). She has published several impactful papers and received funding from NIH, the American Heart Association, and other leading organizations. As a member of the American Thoracic Society and the Chinese American Thoracic Association, she has built a broad collaborative network with top researchers across the U.S.
