Scholarship Description:

Launching July 2025 in the Department of Cell Biology & Physiology at Washington University in St. Louis, the Marti Lab (https://martilab.com/) fuses quantum-level precision with cutting-edge biophysics. Our mission is to invent imaging platforms that let us see biology in motion—from milliseconds to lifetimes—so we can chart how aging and disease reshape living organisms.

Available Subjects:

  • Build a 3-dimensional super-resolution ultrasound (SR-US) system that maps micro-vascular remodeling in mouse and rat hearts during the progression of cardiomyopathy.
  • Marry advanced acoustics, custom electronics, and physics-informed AI to detect subtle, early-stage vascular changes.
  • Lay the groundwork for whole-animal and eventually human translation in healthy-aging studies.

Eligibility criteria:

  • Individualized growth plans focused on both technical depth and big-picture thinking.
  • Weekly brainstorming sessions where new ideas get white-boarded, simulated, and tested—fast.
  • Career coaching that spans academia, biotech start-ups, and industry R&D.

Application Procedure:

1. Email to Dr. Ed Marti:

[email protected]

2. (i) CV, (ii) a brief cover letter (≤ 1 page) describing why our mission excites you and how your skills fit, and (iii) three reference letters.

3. For postdoc candidates, include a one-page research interest.

Rolling review begins June 1 2025; positions remain open until filled.
