Scholarship Description:

The Department of Pediatrics at Indiana University School of Medicine, led by Professor Lei Yang, is recruiting postdoctoral researchers funded by the NIH. The postdoc salary follows the latest NIH standards, and candidates will benefit from Indiana University’s generous retirement benefits. Indiana University School of Medicine is the largest medical school in the U.S. The Herman B. Wells Center for Pediatric Research, affiliated with the department, consists of over 300 faculty, researchers, and trainees focused on urgent issues related to pediatric diseases.

Our lab explores the novel functions of long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) in regulating human cardiovascular development, metabolism, function, and disease. These lncRNA functions include extensive interactions with various proteins, lipids, and RNAs. Our research platform includes human embryonic stem (ES) cells, patient-derived induced pluripotent stem (iPS) cells, mouse genetic models, and animal models of cardiomyopathy, heart failure, and vascular diseases. We have published multiple studies in journals such as Nature, Nature Cell Biology, Developmental Cell, Development, Genome Biology, and Nature Communications.

For more information about our lab, please visit our lab website.

Available Subjects:

  • Stem cells and human cardiac development and disease.

Eligibility criteria:

  • We warmly welcome new postdocs to join us in investigating the molecular mechanisms of lncRNAs in cardiovascular development and disease. Successful candidates should hold a PhD in developmental biology, molecular biology, cell biology, immunology, or cardiovascular research, with solid experience in molecular biology techniques and the ability to work independently in a collaborative research environment. Experience in cardiac development, RNA, and/or epigenetics is preferred. Skills in bioinformatics or animal management are a plus.

Application Procedure:

Interested candidates should provide the following materials:

  1. CV
  2. Research interests and achievements
