Scholarship Description:
The National Center for Nanoscience and Technology is a fully funded institution jointly established by the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Ministry of Education, focused on original research in nanoscience and transformative industrial technology.
The Yuhong Cao Lab, established in 2020, specializes in RNA molecule research, particularly its practical applications. Our work includes developing advanced RNA sequence design systems, improving RNA production processes, innovating RNA delivery systems, and exploring RNA applications in medicine, agriculture, and biotechnology.
Lab website: Yuhong Cao Research. Yuhong Cao is a researcher at the National Center for Nanoscience and Technology and a doctoral advisor. He earned his Ph.D. in Materials Science and Engineering from Stanford University (advisor: Nicholas Melosh), where he developed various nanomaterials for gene regulation and live cell detection. Afterward, he conducted postdoctoral research at the University of California, Berkeley (advisor: Professor Peidong Yang) and collaborated with Professor Jennifer A. Doudna on drug delivery devices. He also completed a postdoc at Stanford University (advisor: Professor Steven Chu).
His research focuses on the interactions between cells, biological tissues, and nanomaterials, utilizing nanotechnology, microfluidics, gene editing, and nanofabrication to design new biomedical devices and cell preparation methods. His work has been published in prestigious journals such as PNAS, Science Advances, and Advanced Materials. He serves as an editor for journals including Communication Biology and Plants.
