Scholarship Description:

Shuang Li is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Iowa State University (ISU). Prior to her current position, she was a Hedrick Assistant Adjunct Professor in the Department of Mathematics at the University of California, Los Angeles. She received her Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering (with a minor in Computational & Applied Math) from the Colorado School of Mines. Her research focuses on exploiting the low-dimensional structures such as sparsity, low-rankness, and smoothness present in high-dimensional data to develop optimisation-based techniques and provide optimality guarantees for fundamental problems in signal processing and machine learning. Some of her recent research directions include convex and non-convex optimization, game theory, digital beamforming, and tensor analysis.

Located in the vibrant city of Ames, Iowa State University (ISU) is a prestigious land-grant and space-grant institution known for cutting-edge research and academic excellence. ISU is classified as “R1: Doctoral Universities – Very High Research Activity” in the Carnegie Classification of Institutions of Higher Education. According to U.S. News & World Report, ISU is ranked 46th among the best engineering schools. The College of Engineering is the 7th largest engineering school in the United States. In addition, electrical engineering is ranked 23rd in the nation.
