Scholarship Description:

The Qu lab (https://www.acsu.buffalo.edu/~junqu/index.html) is a world leader in proteomics and quantitative analysis of proteins. The lab is well funded and stable. In recent years, articles have been published in Nature Protocol, Nature Communications, PNAS and Analytical Chemistry. Starting this year, we will use the revolutionary new Thermo Scientific Orbitrap Astral Ultra High Resolution Mass Spectrometer to investigate biomarkers of obesity, diabetes, cardiovascular disease, Alzheimer’s disease, haematological oncology, etc., and to further advance the field of spatial proteomics, plasma proteomics and single cell proteomics. In addition to a large number of NIH and DOD projects, the laboratory has close collaborations with the world’s major pharmaceutical companies and is involved in protein drug discovery and development. Collaborating pharmaceutical companies include Pfizer, Roche, Genentech, AbbVie, Sanofi and Amgen. The laboratory has 8 PhD students and 2 full-time technologists. The laboratory provides various research and living support for students, sponsors students to attend academic conferences and strongly supports students’ personal development. After graduation, students are encouraged to work as senior research scientists in major pharmaceutical companies. The atmosphere in the laboratory is very friendly and everyone works and lives as one big family.

SUNY Buffalo’s Department of Pharmacy is ranked in the top 5 in the country for its majors and is known as the birthplace of modern macromolecular drug PK/PD, with an alumni network that spans the nation’s major pharmaceutical companies.
