Scholarship Description:

The research interests of Dr Tan Chen’s group at Michigan Technological University include legged robotics, rehabilitation robotics, nonlinear control, optimal control, and the intersection of machine learning and complex dynamical systems. The group is currently recruiting for a fully-funded Ph.D. (starting Spring 2024), and the university is offering a competitive full stipend that covers tuition, salary, and health insurance.

Eligibility criteria:

The ideal candidate should:

  • Good mathematical foundation, good programming background in MATLAB, Python, practical experience in C++, Solidworks and Robotics is preferred.
  • Good written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong curiosity in cross-disciplinary areas and eagerness to learn new skills.
  • English Language Requirements: Michigan Tech requires an overall TOEFL score of at least 79 or an overall IELTS score of at least 6.5. GRE is not required.
